The Search Continues
I mean, you can’t despair. You just gotta keep looking. We looked at a space in White Center - a former massage parlor. Interesting legacy. The owners of Unicorn in Seattle are building a HUGE version of Unicorn in White Center. They basically purchased a city block and are outfitting the upper spaces with restaurants, tattoo shops, salons, etc. Unicorn’s gonna be this gigantic amusement park underneath everything. If you’ve never been to Unicorn, well, I recommend a visit. It’s like Iggy Pop threw up rainbows and they landed on Jim Rose. Stoked for the larger version.
The owners are totally down-to-earth people and want to support local small business, so I feel like we hit it off pretty well. But when we did the second walkthrough, they kind of got cold feet. We won’t be starting out with a tasting room because it’s too expensive, so they were worried that there wouldn’t be anything actionable for customers in our space. It’s just going to be a manufacturing outlet.
They’re right. We could give people a flyer and show off our equipment and tell them where to buy our booze.
So, fair enough. Even though it has everything we need power and water-wise, it’s a little too expensive to fight for, so we’re moving on. Sad to see it go, because I like the owners. But that’s tension we don’t need.
Going to check out a space in the next couple days that’s near the Pacific Science Center of all places. I don’t have much faith - but the price is right!
That’s all I got right now…
